SEKIMORI STONE MAKING
Sen no Rikyu, who is said to have started the custom of placing "Sekimori Stones" (barrier stones) to indicate off-limits, created a sophisticated form of communication by placing a single stone to guide guests without words and maintain silence in the space. In this experience, you will create a Sekimori Stone using stones and rough rope collected from the Takigahara area.
The history of stone in Komatsu City dates back to ancient times, with jade production believed to have begun as early as the Yayoi period approximately 2,300 years ago. Locally, it was widely used as building foundation material and for stone houses, and remains an indispensable resource in people's lives today.
Search for your favorite stones in the river beside TAKIGAHARA CRAFT & STAY and pick up several suitable stones for Sekimori Stones.
The golden autumn scenery is a symbol of bountiful harvests. In addition to being used as auspicious charms for New Year's decorations and as talismans for bountiful harvests and prosperity, rice straw is also an important resource that can be reused for everyday necessities.

Finally, weave the handle and shape it to complete the piece.Place it in a space that is special to you. You can take your finished product home with you.
